Unexpected Uses for Truth Vitality Advanced Complex Hair Serum

Did you know that fewer than 45 percent of women go through life with the full head of hair of their dreams? Sigh. The good news: Yesterday we introduced a new and improved version of our hero hair restoration serum Truth Vitality Advanced Complex ($59-79 in the shop). With the addition of a powerful complex known as Capixyl, plus the original copper peptides, Advance Complex encourages healthy hair growth. But, as you've happily told us, it offers many other unexpected benefits as well. Here, we'll comb through the supporting data behind each.

Female Pattern Hair Loss

It's the obvious reason to reach for hair restoration treatments, sure, but many people still don't realize — or want to accept — how common hair loss is for gender X. So first a quick crash course: According to a recent report by the North American Hair Research Society, half of women will experience female patter hair loss (FPHL) by the age of 50. FPHL is a progressive genetic condition that usually begins after menopause, as hormones also play a role. The most common type of hair loss seen in women is androgenetic alopecia and typically progresses from a widening part to widespread thinning. If this sounds all too familiar, then you know firsthand how destressing noticeable hair loss can be.

While there is no miracle cure for FPHL, you can stop the progression of hair loss and promote healthy hair growth with Advanced Complex — sans any of the undesirable or harmful side effects often associated with other hair restoration treatments on the market. Its unique Capixyl complex combines the power of red clover extract and acetyl tetrapeptide-3 to target the main causes of hair loss. In addition, its proprietary copper peptide complex increases the reproduction of hair follicle cells and decreases programmed follicle cell death. Long-term treatment with Advanced Complex is needed to sustain the benefits.

If you have a family history of hair loss or notice a thinner-than-usual ponytail, you may also consider Advance Complex as a preventative solution. It's never too early to get growing! Read on for more great reasons to add it to your hair care routine.

To Grow Longer Hair

Healthy hair grows at an average rate of one centimeter a month for about three years. This phase is referred to as anagen. The hair then dies and sits dormant in the follicle during the telogen phase, which can last anywhere from two to four months. This is a continuous cycle, but sometimes it may appear that your hair will no longer grow.

When strands get stuck in growth rut, dihydrotesterone (DHT) is likely to blame. Simply put, DHT is a sex hormone that's known to shorten the anagen (growth) phase. The red clover found in Advanced Complex is rich in biochanin A, an isoflavonoid that inhibits the enzyme responsible for the production of DHT. A longer anagen phase equals longer hair. What's more, a study published in the Journal of Cosmetic Science found that acetyl tetrapeptide-3 (the other component of Capixyl) may increase follicle length by 35 percent after only eight days of use.

The end result of Advance Complex, says community member Dora: "Longer, stronger hair. I can't tell you how many people commented on my hair growth after a month of use."

To Lessen Postpartum Shedding

Many mothers experience sudden shedding anywhere from three to six months after giving birth. It's normal to lose approximately 100 to 150 hairs a day, but during pregnancy your hormones keep a majority of those from falling out, resulting in a full head of hair. The downside: When hormones go back to normal postpartum, you may start to notice excessive shedding that often occurs in clumps.

According to the Griffon Center of Hair Restoration and Research, the extracellular matrix is a sort of flexible scaffolding that supports the cells that make up various tissues in the body. Acetyl tetrapeptide-3 stimulates extracellular matrix proteins, thus reinforcing the structures surrounding hair follicles and reducing shedding. Because copper peptides decrease programmed follicle cell death, they also lead to less fallout.

Apply Advanced Complex daily to reduce shedding and be extra gentle when combing or styling.

For Fuller Hair

Healthy hair starts at the scalp. Volumes have been published regarding the follicle and hair shaft thickness. A report by Dermatopathology Institute states that inflammation in the hair follicle leads to a decrease in dermal papilla size and the size of the matrix. Together the two are referred to as the bulb, and the size of the bulb ultimately determines the width of fully-grown hair.

Copper peptides are well known for their anti-inflammatory properties. They also encourage nutrient-rich blood flow to the scalp, improving the vitality of the follicle cell. There are around 100,000 follicles on the scalp, so that's a lot of potential for full hair. Maintain them with Advanced Complex to ensure your thickest, shiniest strands.

"[My] existing hair seems to grow thicker and faster," reported community member Nina while using Advanced Complex. Another said, "As a matter of fact, two women at the office noticed an improvement in my hair and commented that it looked thicker. I don't have to tell you how that made my day!"

To Reshape Your Hairline

Your hairline acts as the frame of your face. Unfortunately, many women (and men) experience receding hairlines around the temples or widow's peak, resulting in meticulous nitpicking. Use Advanced Complex to target the bare spots or areas of wispy baby hairs. The new clear gel absorbs instantly without staining your skin or roots.

"I have been using Truth Vitality Advanced Complex for hair growth and it has given me back my hairline," raves community member Tina. Sameera adds, "I noticed a slight thickening along the temple and hairline and can see tiny little hairs filling in, offering a denser overall appearance to those areas."

To Treat Male Pattern Balding

While male pattern balding presents quite differently than female pattern hair loss, the response to treatments has proven similar. Advanced Complex has been beneficial for men in the Truth In Aging community, too.

"[My husband] showed some good results as well! We noticed the biggest difference in his crown, which has definitely filled in quite a bit. Where we used to able to see a large circle of scalp has now improved about 30 percent," Sameera confides.  It worked for Ann's husband too: "My husband and I both use this and are getting great results," she says.

Even better: Community member John reported seeing real hair regrowth from using Advanced Complex with the LED light on our Truth Vitality Lux Renew ($279 in the shop). "I've returned to treat [my crown] with the Truth Vitality Lux Renew and copper peptide serum, and as I write this, I can honestly say that after 6 weeks the area that was nearly bald has hair — good hair and not the peach fuzz," he says. Low level light therapy has been shown to regenerate tissue and safely stimulate hair growth.

A Breakthrough for Hair Loss! PGD2 and Natural Ways to Regrow Your Hair

In 2012, the dermatology departments of the University of Pennsylvania and Johns Hopkins University generated a lot of buzz around a potential "miracle cure" for baldness. The big discovery? A relationship between prostaglandin D2 (a fatty acid derivative) and male pattern baldness, and hair loss in women. The researchers demonstrated, for the first time in humans, that a lipid derivative called prostaglandin D2 was elevated in balding areas – but not in hair-bearing areas – of men with hair loss. More importantly, they also discovered that prostaglandin D2 inhibits hair lengthening. The more prostaglandin D2 present, the shorter a hair grows. The team suggested that by maybe inhibiting prostaglandin D2 in the scalp, hair loss might be stopped. And that got a lot of hair loss sufferers (and pharmaceutical companies) excited. Prostaglandin-D2 inhibitors were already in trials as a treatment for asthma. It wouldn't be hard to develop a topical for men&#
